KELLY BLYNN
Biography
Kelly is beginning her first year as a Master of City Planning student after spending the last ten years as an advocate and organizer for environmental and social justice issues. She has worked on international climate change campaigns as a co-founder of 350.org, organized for equitable transit options in the Washington, DC region, and co-founded DC’s pedestrian advocacy organization All Walks DC. She is interested in investigating solutions to cut growing transportation emissions around the world, and in transforming suburbs into more equitable, sustainable places.
RESEARCH
Kelly will be researching the role of values in the acceptance of public policy in Iceland, especially related to urban planning and sustainable transportation initiatives in the Reykjavik area. She is interested to investigate how traditional Icelandic values impact the acceptance of government policies designed to densify Reykjavik and reduce automobile dependence in a society with high rates of car ownership and suburbanization such as Iceland.
